Phase 2 begins for Yakima roundabout construction

Sunnyside, WALocal News

Yakima begins Phase 2 of its roundabout construction at 72nd Avenue and Washington Avenue on June 30th, closing the west side of the intersection. This closure may cause significant traffic delays, prompting officials to advise drivers to seek alternate routes during the project. The $1. 47 million project is supported by funding from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board and state legislature appropriations. Phase 1 started on June 16th, with completion of the roundabout anticipated by November.

Access to properties in the project area will remain open throughout construction. City officials will post updated traffic alerts on their communication platforms. This construction aims to improve traffic flow and safety at a busy intersection. The project reflects Yakima's commitment to infrastructure development and modernization.
