City Provides Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's 2024 drinking water quality report, released today, confirmed compliance with all state and federal standards. Low-level PFAS detections were noted at three well sites, but all results remained below action levels. One well had a slightly elevated reading, yet the average complied with the EPA's revised standards of four parts per trillion. The city has enhanced its testing and monitoring protocols in response to these findings. Marlene Feist, the City’s Director of Public Works, reaffirmed the city's dedication to delivering safe drinking water amid rising environmental contaminants.

Spokane has also joined a lawsuit against manufacturers responsible for PFAS contamination. The Water Department continues to conduct regular tests and monitor regulatory actions to keep the community informed. For residents, the city offers resources for water conservation through its Water Wise Spokane program, including a mandatory "odd/even" watering schedule.
