City Provides Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's 2024 drinking water quality report reveals that the City met all state and federal standards for safe drinking water. The report noted low-level detections of PFAS chemicals at three well locations, with one well slightly exceeding the revised EPA standard. However, the average for that well remains below the limit of four parts per trillion. The City is actively conducting follow-up testing and ongoing monitoring at all well sites. Marlene Feist, the City's Director of Public Works, reaffirmed the City's commitment to delivering safe drinking water despite rising environmental contaminants.

The report is accessible on the City's water quality webpage, and residents can request a mailed copy. Spokane has also joined a lawsuit against PFAS manufacturers to address contamination issues. The City implements water conservation efforts through programs like the Water Wise Spokane initiative and an odd/even watering schedule to protect resources.
