Mayor Brown Proposes Boost to Opioid Treatment, Navigation Services

Mayor Lisa Brown proposed a $730,000 investment of opioid settlement funds to enhance treatment and support services in Spokane. The plan allocates $300,000 for neonatal abstinence syndrome treatment at Maddie’s Place and $30,000 for capital investments in mobile treatment outreach. Additionally, $400,000 will support an outdoor navigation program to assist individuals experiencing homelessness and opioid use disorder. “This proposal aims to directly support the vital work of community organizations on the front lines of the opioid crisis,” said Mayor Brown. To date, the City has allocated $2,480,350 in opioid settlement funds for various services, including case management and increased treatment access.

This funding addresses urgent community needs and strengthens the capacity of local organizations. The initiative reflects a growing commitment to combat the opioid crisis through targeted support and resources. Mayor Brown's plan emphasizes collaboration with community organizations to fill critical service gaps.
