Post Falls Public Library reopens after year-long construction from pipe burst flooding

Spokane, WALocal News

The Post Falls Public Library has officially reopened after nearly a year of extensive renovations caused by a devastating pipe burst that led to significant flooding. This unfortunate incident resulted in the destruction of around 10,000 books and considerable damage to furniture and the library building itself. The total cost of repairs exceeded $943,000, all of which were covered by insurance. During the closure, library staff continued to provide limited services from the lobby while taking the opportunity to assess and reorganize their collection. The renovations included new carpets, fresh paint, and a redesigned layout aimed at creating a more open and inviting atmosphere for visitors.

Community Library Network Director Martin Walters emphasized the library's role as a vital community space and expressed appreciation for residents' patience throughout the renovation process. The successful reopening reflects the library's commitment to better serving the community, fostering a welcoming environment for patrons with an improved layout and enhanced resources.
