SPD investigation into child sex crimes leads to arrest in Florida suspect was former teacher at religious school in Spokane extradition to Washington State pending

Spokane, WALocal News

Florida law enforcement arrested Tyrone L. Cliff, 38, on felony charges for possessing material depicting child sexual abuse. The investigation commenced in August when the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit received a CyberTip identifying Cliff, a former religious school teacher in Spokane. As detectives prepared search warrants for his Spokane residence, they discovered he had moved to Florida. The Spokane Police Department worked with Florida authorities, leading to Cliff's quick apprehension.

At the time of his arrest, he was employed as a middle school teacher in Hillsborough County. The collaborative effort between the Spokane Police, Tampa Police, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement was crucial in this case. Cliff's extradition to Washington State is pending, where he will face multiple felony charges. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and the importance of inter-agency cooperation.
