SPD investigation into child sex crimes leads to arrest in Florida suspect was former teacher at religious school in Spokane extradition to Washington State pending

Spokane, WALocal News

On October 28, 2025, law enforcement officials apprehended Tyrone L. Cliff, a 38-year-old former teacher from Spokane, on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material. The investigation began in August when the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit received a CyberTip about Cliff's activities. Spokane detectives identified him and prepared to execute search warrants at his residence but learned he had moved to Florida. In Hillsborough County, Cliff worked as a middle school teacher, which heightened the urgency of the investigation.

The collaborative effort between the Spokane Police Department, Tampa Police Department, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement resulted in his swift arrest. Authorities issued multiple felony warrants based on the investigation. Cliff remains in custody at the Hillsborough County Jail, pending extradition to Washington State. This case underscores the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and the importance of interagency cooperation in such investigations.
