Hope Soccer and Parks and Rec Partner to Expand Youth Soccer Access
Hope Soccer will celebrate the opening of a new soccer mini-pitch at Grant Park on November 5, 2025, at 2 p. m. The public event will feature youth games, refreshments, and family activities, aiming to foster community engagement in healthy recreation. This mini-pitch, specifically designed for fast-paced, small-sided games, repurposes an underutilized tennis court at the park. The second tennis court is currently being repaired and will reopen in the spring.
Funding for the mini-pitch and its lighting system was secured through Hope Soccer, along with sponsors ICCU and Musco Lighting. This initiative aligns with the organizations’ mission to promote physical activity and teamwork among local youth. Gabriel Mwamba, president of Hope Soccer 2026, noted the significance of public-nonprofit partnerships in enhancing youth opportunities. Parks & Recreation Director Garrett Jones expressed excitement about the collaboration and its positive impact on community health.
