Spokane City Council Hosts A Community Food Drive

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Council and City Employees will host a food drive and fundraiser to support the Zilch and Bite2Go programs from October 15 to December 15. Zilch collects food for distribution to local pantries, while Bite2Go supplies nutritious meals to K-12 students facing hunger. Council Member Paul Dillon emphasizes the initiative's significance in promoting community health and student retention. Bite2Go reports that one in five children in the region experiences food insecurity, making it difficult for them to focus in school. Donations can be made at City Hall, where non-perishable food items and monetary contributions will be accepted.

Council Member Michael Cathcart encourages residents to participate, highlighting the opportunity to support the community while engaging with city governance. The food drive aims to ensure that no child in Spokane goes hungry. For more information, individuals can visit the 2nd Harvest website.
