SPD launches alternative reporting option for sexual assault survivors

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane Police Department (SPD) unveiled a new resource for sexual assault survivors known as "Seek Then Speak. " This platform allows survivors to privately collect information on medical care and supportive services. Individuals aged 18 and older can engage in a self-guided interview that generates a PDF, which they can choose to save or submit to law enforcement. The initiative aims to empower survivors by providing essential information about their rights and the reporting process. SPD stresses that this tool is for circumstances that do not require immediate law enforcement response.

The launch of Seek Then Speak coincides with broader efforts to support survivors and improve reporting mechanisms. By providing accessible resources, SPD hopes to foster a more supportive environment for survivors in Spokane. This aligns with national movements to enhance survivor resources across the United States.
