Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's City officials have announced a delay in the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, impacting traffic on North Ash Street from September 22 to 24. During this period, southbound lanes will merge from three to one, likely causing significant congestion on both Ash Street and eastbound Northwest Boulevard. Pedestrians may face sidewalk detours, but local access will be maintained. Additionally, Rockwood Boulevard will be completely closed to traffic from September 15 to 17 for vital work on water, sewer, and stormwater systems. This construction is located near Sacred Heart Medical Center, which could affect healthcare access.

The project also includes intersection redesign and pavement rehabilitation, expected to be completed by mid-October. City officials urge drivers to use alternative routes and adjust travel times to avoid peak congestion. The City emphasizes safety and encourages support for local businesses impacted by the construction.
