Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane announced delays for the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, which will affect traffic on North Ash Street from Sept. 22 to 24. Drivers will experience significant slowdowns as southbound lanes merge from three to one, likely causing congestion on Northwest Boulevard. Additionally, Rockwood Boulevard will close to all traffic from Sept. 15 to 17 for essential water, sewer, and stormwater system work.

This closure is near Sacred Heart Medical Center and involves pavement rehabilitation and intersection redesign. Local access will be maintained, but pedestrians may face detours, and on-street metered parking will be unavailable in the affected areas. The city encourages residents to consider alternative routes and adjust driving times to avoid congestion between 7 a. m. and 7 p.

m. The project on Rockwood Boulevard is expected to be completed by mid-October. Current obstruction information is available on the city's construction webpage.
