Spokane City Council to Consider Day Change of Legislative Sessions

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane City Council is evaluating a change to its Monday legislative sessions, driven by community feedback and frequent cancellations due to federal holidays. To inform this decision, the council issued a public survey aimed at gathering input from Spokane residents. Currently, Ordinance C36738 does not designate a new meeting day, and community preferences will guide this aspect of the ordinance. The survey will remain open until midnight on September 21, 2025, with results to be shared during the Finance and Administration Committee meeting on September 22. A first reading of the resolution will occur on October 6, followed by a final reading and discussion on October 20.

If the council approves the change, it will go into effect in August 2026. This move reflects a commitment to enhancing public engagement in local governance. The council hopes to create a schedule that better serves the community's needs.
