Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition
Firefighters responded to a house fire at 804 South Sherman Street at 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, where flames were visible from the first floor. Dispatch informed crews of a high likelihood that an adult male resident was trapped inside the two-story duplex. Upon arrival, Engine 1 confirmed the fire's extension to the second story and attic.
Firefighters located the unconscious resident and extricated him through a window, upgrading the call to a second alarm for additional resources. He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. The firefighters managed to control the fire within 20 minutes, but the extensive damage left the home uninhabitable. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire. No additional injuries were reported, and firefighters will remain on-site for several hours to extinguish any lingering hotspots.
