Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Firefighters responded to a fire at 804 South Sherman Street in Spokane at 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, where flames were reported in a two-story duplex. Upon arrival, Engine 1 confirmed that the fire had spread from the first floor to the second story and attic, with a high probability of an adult male resident trapped inside. Crews initiated a search and simultaneously attacked the flames, quickly finding the unconscious victim on the first floor.

Firefighters rescued him through a window and transported him to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, but significant damage rendered the residence uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no additional injuries were reported. Firefighters are expected to remain on the scene for several hours to ensure all hotspots are extinguished. This incident highlights the critical role of rapid response in emergency situations.
