Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Firefighters responded to a house fire at 804 South Sherman Street in Spokane at 10:39 a. m. on Monday. Dispatchers alerted them of a potential victim trapped inside the two-story duplex. Upon arrival, Engine 1 confirmed flames on the first floor extending to the second story and attic.

Firefighters quickly located an unconscious adult male and removed him from the building within four minutes, upgrading the incident to a second alarm. The victim was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. The fire was contained within 20 minutes, but extensive damage left the structure uninhabitable. Firefighters will remain on-site for several hours to extinguish any remaining hotspots. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
