Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Firefighters swiftly tackled a house fire on August 25, 2025, at 804 South Sherman Street in Spokane, where flames were reported coming from the front of the duplex. Initial reports indicated a strong likelihood that an adult male was trapped inside. Engine 1 arrived on the scene four minutes later, confirming the fire's rapid spread to the second floor and attic. Firefighters conducted a search, locating the unconscious victim within minutes. After rescuing him, they upgraded the incident to a second alarm and transported him to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition.

The fire was under control in just 20 minutes, but extensive damage left the home uninhabitable. Investigators are currently looking into the cause of the fire. Firefighters remained on-site for several hours to extinguish any remaining hotspots.
