Millions Awarded to Affordable Housing Projects Across Spokane

Spokane has allocated $7. 5 million to support nine affordable housing initiatives, addressing critical housing needs in the community. Funding sources include HEART Funds and HOME Development Funds, which aim to enhance both rental and homeownership options. Among the projects, four new constructions will yield 95 mixed-income housing units, with a significant portion reserved for low-income households. Rehabilitation projects will maintain 50 existing affordable units and create an additional 49 units for families earning 80% AMI or less.

A new homeownership project will offer 12 townhomes, with six designated for low-income buyers. Mayor Brown emphasized the importance of these funds in promoting community stability and accessibility. The investments reflect a commitment to serve diverse populations and improve housing opportunities. This funding marks a significant step towards combating housing insecurity in Spokane.
