Downtown Arson Suspect in Custody
Spokane police arrested Troy A. Silk, 45, for three counts of second-degree arson following a series of intentionally set fires that damaged properties in downtown Spokane on August 21, 2025. The fires occurred in the 400 block of West Main, the 400 block of West Riverside, and the 300 block of West Spokane Falls Boulevard, prompting a swift response from patrol officers. Officers secured evidence and identified Silk as a person of interest. The Major Crimes Unit Detectives later obtained video footage from surrounding businesses that confirmed his involvement.
Silk was already in custody for unrelated crimes at the Spokane County Jail at the time of his arrest. The incidents have raised alarm among local residents and officials regarding safety in the downtown area. Spokane officials are likely to increase patrols and surveillance in response to the fires. The community is urged to report suspicious activity to help prevent future incidents.
