Flags Lowered for Spokane County Sergeant Kenneth Salas

Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to half-staff in memory of Spokane County Sergeant Kenneth Salas, who tragically lost his life while responding to a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community,” Mayor Brown stated. The City expresses its heartfelt condolences to Salas’s family, friends, and colleagues at the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Flags will remain at half-staff until Wednesday, August 20, as a sign of respect. The City of Spokane encourages residents to lower their flags as well.

A memorial service honoring Salas’s contributions to the community is scheduled for 1 p. m. at the Spokane Convention Center. This event reflects the community's commitment to honoring those who serve and protect. The tragic incident highlights the risks first responders face daily.
