City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
The City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to gather public input until August 31, 2025, as part of its Climate Planning initiative. Mayor Lisa Brown stated that community feedback is essential to understand and address climate challenges affecting all neighborhoods. The survey, available in several languages, will inform the PlanSpokane 2046 update, shaping future local climate policies. Earlier this year, over 1,500 residents provided insights into climate risks, which contributed to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This assessment combined personal experiences with extensive data to identify local vulnerabilities.
Funding for the climate planning project comes from a state grant linked to Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce climate pollution and improve public health. Engaging the community ensures that diverse perspectives shape the city’s climate strategies. The survey results will play a pivotal role in directing the actions of city staff and leaders moving forward.
