City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
Spokane's new climate policy survey invites residents to shape future local climate action, emphasizing the importance of community participation. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey is accessible in several languages to ensure broad engagement. Feedback will influence policies integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 update, a comprehensive plan directing future city actions. Mayor Lisa Brown highlighted the need for input from all neighborhoods to address the diverse impacts of climate change. Earlier in the year, the city collected insights from over 1,500 residents about their experiences with climate hazards.
This input contributed to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, identifying local risks and vulnerabilities. The climate planning project receives funding from a state grant associated with the Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce emissions and improve public health. The survey serves as a crucial step toward a resilient Spokane, where community voices directly inform policy decisions.
