City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane officials launched a community climate policy survey to gather vital feedback for future climate action plans. Residents can participate until August 31, 2025, providing input on preferred policies to mitigate climate hazards. Mayor Lisa Brown highlighted the need for insights from all 29 neighborhoods to ensure a comprehensive approach to resilience. Earlier this year, the city engaged over 1,500 residents, whose experiences helped shape the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This assessment identified local climate risks and vulnerabilities, integrating diverse perspectives with extensive data.

The climate planning initiative receives funding from a state grant linked to Washington's Climate Commitment Act, which supports efforts to cut climate pollution. This act also aims to create jobs and improve public health outcomes. The survey is accessible in multiple languages, ensuring broad community engagement.
