Flags lowered for Spokane County sergeant killed in line of duty
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities in Spokane to be lowered to half-staff in memory of Sergeant Ken Salas, who died while helping with a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community,” Brown expressed. The loss of Salas highlights the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. The City extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues in the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Flags will remain at half-staff until Monday, allowing the community to reflect on Salas's service.
Spokane also encourages residents and businesses to lower their flags in recognition of his sacrifice. This act of remembrance underscores the city's commitment to honoring those who serve and protect the community. Salas's dedication to his role as a sergeant will be remembered by all.
