Spokane Police arrest man for murder following downtown stabbing incident

Spokane Police arrested Colin L. Pedro, 20, for 2nd Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Murder after a stabbing incident on August 7, 2025, which left one man dead and another seriously injured. The surviving victim, who had a dating relationship with Pedro, is currently hospitalized but expected to recover. Police responded to reports of a fight near Spokane Falls Blvd, where they found Pedro on the Post Street Bridge threatening suicide. A multi-agency response, including SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team, took nearly four hours to safely detain him.
