City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
The City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to gather public insights on future climate action strategies. Open through August 31, 2025, the survey aims to inform the PlanSpokane 2046 update, guiding local policies on climate hazards. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of community feedback, stating that climate change affects everyone in Spokane’s 29 neighborhoods. Earlier this year, more than 1,500 residents provided input on climate challenges like wildfires, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This technical report integrated diverse perspectives with data to identify local vulnerabilities.
The climate planning project is funded by a state grant supported by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which allocates funds to reduce climate pollution and enhance public health. The survey is accessible in multiple languages, including Spanish, Russian, and Arabic, to ensure broad participation. Community involvement is crucial in shaping a resilient future for Spokane.
