City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
Spokane's climate policy survey invites community input to shape future climate initiatives, open until August 31, 2025. Available in English and five other languages, the survey seeks to reflect diverse community voices in the PlanSpokane 2046 update. Mayor Lisa Brown stressed the significance of feedback from all 29 neighborhoods to address the impacts of climate change. Earlier this year, the city gathered insights from 1,500 residents on local climate challenges, informing the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This assessment integrated personal experiences with extensive data to identify local climate risks.
The climate planning project receives funding through a state grant associated with Washington's Climate Commitment Act. This act aims to reduce climate pollution and enhance public health by utilizing cap-and-invest funds. The survey results will guide future city policies and actions, ensuring a resilient Spokane.
