City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
The City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to inform future climate action strategies and policies. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey invites residents to share their preferences regarding local climate initiatives. Mayor Lisa Brown stressed the importance of community feedback in understanding climate change's effects across Spokane's 29 neighborhoods. Earlier this year, the city collected insights from over 1,500 residents, which contributed to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This assessment combined personal experiences with data to identify local climate risks.
Results from the survey will influence policies integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 update, guiding city officials' future actions. The climate planning initiative is funded through a state grant from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce climate pollution and improve public health. Information regarding the Climate Commitment Act is available on the Washington Department of Commerce website.
