Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A tragic incident involving an electric scooter in Spokane resulted in the death of a male passenger on July 19, 2025. At approximately 2:20 a. m. , the passenger lost his balance and fell into the roadway, where he was struck by a semi-truck traveling north on Division. The semi-truck driver, who was cooperative with law enforcement, showed no signs of impairment.

Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. The area surrounding the accident scene was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will disclose the identity of the deceased at a later date. Electric scooters have become increasingly popular in urban areas, raising concerns about safety and regulations. This incident underscores the risks associated with their use on roadways and sidewalks.
