Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

Two males fell from an electric scooter while riding on a Spokane sidewalk early July 19, 2025, leading to a tragic accident. The rear passenger fell into the roadway and was struck by a northbound semi-truck on Division Street. The driver of the semi-truck immediately stopped and cooperated with law enforcement, showing no signs of impairment. Emergency responders from Spokane Fire attempted life-saving measures but pronounced the male dead at the scene. The investigation necessitated the closure of the surrounding area for several hours.

The incident highlights the dangers of riding electric scooters on sidewalks. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will disclose the identity of the deceased later. This incident raises concerns about scooter safety regulations in urban areas.
