Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A male passenger on an electric scooter died after falling into the roadway and being struck by a semi-truck in Spokane on July 19, 2025, at approximately 2:20 AM. The scooter was traveling northbound when the rear passenger lost his balance, leading to the tragic accident near Division and Dalton. The semi-truck driver stopped and attempted to render aid, while officers and Spokane Fire also performed life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will disclose his identity later. Investigators found no signs of impairment from the truck driver, who cooperated fully with law enforcement.

The incident underscores the potential dangers associated with electric scooters on roadways. Emergency services closed the area for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation. As electric scooter use increases, similar incidents may raise safety concerns among local authorities and residents.
