Projects will impact traffic starting July 21
Spokane will initiate two significant construction projects on July 21 that will impact local traffic. The South Freya Street project involves replacing over 3,000 feet of water main between 13th and 21st Avenues, closing the street to motorists and requiring detours via Hartson Avenue and South Ray Street. Local access for residents will be preserved, and the project is projected to be completed by late October. Concurrently, South Lincoln Street will see swale plantings rehabilitated, with work occurring intermittently on weekdays throughout the summer. Flaggers will be present to manage vehicle traffic, and alternate routes include High Drive and Bernard Street.
Traffic delays are expected during flagging operations, and pedestrian detours will be established when sidewalks are obstructed. This construction aims to improve infrastructure and minimize service disruptions for utilities. The projects underscore the city’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing local services despite the inconvenience to motorists and residents.
