SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, on July 9, 2025, for 2nd Degree Arson in Liberty Lake. Earlier that day, police had established probable cause for Horne's arrest due to his suspected involvement in multiple arson incidents on July 8. Horne was last seen near a Walmart in Spokane Valley, wearing dark shorts and a black tank top. The police described him as a white male, 5'11", with a slim build, and thanked the community for providing tips that led to his capture. Investigators reported that four structures were set ablaze on July 8, but fortunately, no injuries occurred.

The series of fires prompted police to issue warnings due to the potential hazards presented by hot and dry weather. Spokane Police and fire investigators are actively collecting evidence and seeking further information from the public. They continue to encourage anyone with relevant footage or information to come forward.
