The City of Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds, a decision made after a thorough national search. Mascio has a robust background in child welfare and law enforcement, having served as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the New Hampshire Office of the Child Advocate. She has experience prosecuting abuse cases and advocating for the rights of domestic violence victims. Spokane Police Ombuds Bart Logue emphasized her unanimous selection and noted her expertise will facilitate a smooth transition in the role. Mascio is committed to building trust and accountability between the Spokane Police Department and the community.

She holds a B. A. in Journalism and English from the University of New Hampshire and has a law degree from Hofstra Law School. Mascio looks forward to relocating to Spokane and engaging with the community. Her hiring is expected to bring a fresh perspective to police oversight in the city.
