Spokane Police Ombuds Bart Logue emphasized her unanimous selection and noted her expertise will facilitate a smooth transition in the role. Mascio is committed to building trust and accountability between the Spokane Police Department and the community.

She holds a B. A. in Journalism and English from the University of New Hampshire and has a law degree from Hofstra Law School. Mascio looks forward to relocating to Spokane and engaging with the community. Her hiring is expected to bring a fresh perspective to police oversight in the city.
