SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne for 2nd Degree Arson after a series of intentionally set fires on July 8, 2025. Horne, 37, was taken into custody in the Liberty Lake area following public tips. He was last seen near a Walmart in Spokane Valley, described as a white male with blond hair, wearing a black tank top and carrying a large bag. Investigators previously identified him as a person of interest in the arson incidents that damaged four structures, including a fire at My Fresh Basket and a vehicle charging station. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, but the incidents prompted concern given the forecast for hot and dry weather.

Horne also had an unrelated warrant for domestic violence, complicating the investigation. Authorities encourage anyone with further information to contact 911. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is actively pursuing additional leads related to Horne.
