City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds
The City of Spokane has announced the hiring of Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds, chosen from a competitive national search. Previously, Mascio worked as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the New Hampshire Office of the Child Advocate, concentrating on child welfare. Her experience includes prosecuting homicides and felony unemployment fraud as part of the New Hampshire Department of Justice. Police Ombuds Bart Logue emphasized her strong legal expertise and investigative skills, which are expected to improve oversight in Spokane. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall highlighted Mascio's dedication to public service and her potential to strengthen community trust.
Detective Dave Dunkin from the Spokane Police Guild praised the quality of candidates and expressed confidence in Mascio's leadership. Mascio, who has lived in various states, holds a B. A. in Journalism and English and a law degree from Hofstra University. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys community theater and traveling with her daughter.
