SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, on July 9, 2025, in connection with a series of arson incidents that occurred on July 8. Horne was wanted for 2nd Degree Arson and had an outstanding warrant for an unrelated domestic violence charge. He was last seen near Walmart in Spokane Valley before his apprehension, following tips from the public. The arson incidents involved fires at My Fresh Basket, a vehicle charging station at Washington State University, and other locations, with no injuries reported. Police emphasized the importance of public assistance in locating Horne and urged anyone with surveillance footage to come forward.

The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate, aiming to determine if other related fires occurred. The weather forecast raises concerns about the potential for further fire hazards in the area. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
