SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, in Liberty Lake on July 9, 2025, after receiving tips from the public regarding his location. Horne is facing charges for 2nd Degree Arson linked to several fires set on July 8. Authorities last spotted him near a Wal-Mart in Spokane Valley, where he changed his clothing and fled eastbound on foot. The arson incidents included a fire at My Fresh Basket and damage to an electrical vehicle charging station at Washington State University. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, but police remain concerned due to the prevailing hot and dry conditions.

Investigators are gathering evidence and looking for additional related fires. Horne also has an unrelated warrant for domestic violence charges. The Spokane Police urge anyone with relevant information or surveillance footage to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
