SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, on July 9, 2025, for 2nd Degree Arson after a series of intentionally set fires in Spokane and Spokane Valley. Horne was identified as a person of interest in multiple arson incidents from July 8, including fires at My Fresh Basket and a charging station on the Washington State University campus. Police issued a public alert after Horne was last seen near a Walmart, and he had changed clothes prior to his arrest. Fortunately, no injuries occurred during the fires, but officials are concerned due to the region's hot and dry weather conditions. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incidents and gathering evidence from the scenes.

Authorities urge residents to report any sightings of Horne or additional fires to 911. Investigators are also requesting surveillance footage from the public to aid in their case. Horne's unrelated warrant for domestic violence adds urgency to the police search for information regarding his whereabouts.
