City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds
Lissa Mascio has been appointed as Spokane's new Deputy Police Ombuds after a thorough national search. Previously, she held significant roles in New Hampshire, including Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the Office of the Child Advocate, where she specialized in child welfare. Mascio's career includes prosecuting homicide cases and advocating for victims of domestic violence, providing her with a robust legal foundation. Bart Logue, the Police Ombuds, commended her strong legal background and analytical skills, which are expected to enhance Spokane's oversight processes. Chief Kevin Hall expressed optimism about Mascio's ability to foster trust between the Spokane Police Department and the community.
The Spokane Police Guild supported her selection, noting the high caliber of candidates they reviewed. Mascio, originally from Queens, New York, looks forward to relocating to Spokane and engaging with the community. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys community theater and spending time with her daughter.
