SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne on July 9, 2025, in Liberty Lake for 2nd Degree Arson following a series of fires set on July 8. Horne, 37, was wanted for an unrelated domestic violence charge and became a person of interest in the arson investigation. He was last seen near a Walmart in Spokane Valley and changed his clothing before being apprehended. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the four structures that were deliberately set ablaze. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incidents and gathering evidence.

Authorities received numerous tips from the public, which aided in Horne's capture. The police continue to encourage anyone with information or surveillance footage related to the fires to contact them. The situation raises concerns given the hot and dry weather forecast in the area.
