City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds
Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds, a decision made after a national search for qualified candidates. Mascio, who previously worked in New Hampshire as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the Office of the Child Advocate, brings a wealth of experience in child welfare and law enforcement oversight. Her background includes prosecuting serious crimes and advocating for vulnerable communities. Police Ombuds Bart Logue emphasized that Mascio was the unanimous choice due to her strong legal expertise and skills that will enhance oversight processes in Spokane. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall expressed optimism about Mascio's ability to strengthen trust between the police and the community.
Additionally, the Spokane Police Guild praised the quality of candidates and believes Mascio's hiring is beneficial for both the Office of the Ombuds and the community. Mascio looks forward to her new role and relocating to Spokane. She enjoys community theater and traveling in her personal time.
