Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's water system upgrade will begin on July 7, disrupting traffic at the intersection of Francis Ave. /Hwy 291 and Assembly St. Northbound Assembly St. will close between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave.

/Hwy 291, with detours for drivers. Temporary traffic signals will be installed to manage rerouted flows, and a noise variance allows work between 6 a. m. and 6 p. m.

Monday through Saturday. This $3. 25 million project is the first phase of a broader initiative to enhance water, sewer, stormwater, and traffic infrastructure in the area. Future phases will involve additional closures on N. Royal Dr.

and W. Lyons Ave. Completion of the first phase is expected by November 2025. The city urges motorists to allow extra travel time and remain cautious to ensure safety for workers and residents. Supporting local businesses during the construction is also encouraged.
