City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds
The City of Spokane named Lissa Mascio as its new Deputy Police Ombuds after conducting a national search for the position. Mascio comes from New Hampshire, where she worked as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the state's Office of the Child Advocate, focusing on child welfare issues. Her background includes prosecuting abuse and neglect cases and advocating for domestic violence victims. Police Ombuds Bart Logue emphasized her unanimous selection, citing her legal expertise and analytical skills as vital for enhancing oversight processes. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall noted that Mascio's commitment to public service will strengthen community trust in the police.
Mascio, who grew up in New Hampshire and has lived in multiple states, holds a B. A. in Journalism and English and a law degree from Hofstra University. Outside of work, she enjoys community theater and traveling. Mascio expressed excitement about joining the Office of the Police Ombuds and contributing to the Spokane community.
