SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police apprehended Chad Horne, 37, on July 9, 2025, after he was linked to a series of arson incidents occurring the day before. Horne was spotted near a Walmart in Spokane Valley prior to his arrest. He also had an outstanding warrant for domestic violence unrelated to the arson charges. Investigators received tips indicating he may have changed clothes and could be moving east on foot. The Spokane Fire Department responded to four deliberately set fires on July 8, with no injuries reported, raising concerns due to the hot and dry weather conditions.

The fires included a structure fire and damage to an electric vehicle charging station. Police continue to seek additional evidence and urge anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact them. The investigation highlights the ongoing threat posed by arson in the community.
