Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane will start a significant upgrade to its water system on July 7, impacting traffic on west Francis Ave. /Highway 291 and north Assembly St. The $3. 25 million project will enhance water reliability and support future growth, with completion expected by November 2025. Motorists should prepare for detours and temporary traffic signals at the intersection of Francis Ave.

and Assembly St. , as well as closures on northbound and southbound Assembly St. between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave. /Hwy 291.

A noise variance allows work to proceed from 6 a. m. to 6 p. m. Monday through Saturday.

This is the first phase of a larger initiative to improve water, sewer, stormwater, and traffic infrastructure in the area. Future phases will include additional closures on N. Royal Dr. , W. Lyons Ave.

, and W. Woodside Ave. The project is crucial for enhancing the city's water transmission capabilities. Current obstruction information is available on the city's construction webpage.
