City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds
Spokane has announced the hiring of Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds, selected after a national search. Mascio comes from the New Hampshire Office of the Child Advocate, where she served as Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director, focusing on child welfare. Her legal experience includes prosecuting abuse and neglect cases, as well as advocating for domestic violence victims. Police Chief Kevin Hall highlighted her capability to enhance community trust in the Spokane Police Department. Bart Logue, the Police Ombuds, noted her strong legal background and investigative skills will aid in oversight processes.
Detective Dave Dunkin of the Spokane Police Guild commended the quality of candidates and expressed optimism about Mascio's fresh perspective on police oversight. Mascio, originally from Queens, New York, has lived in various states and holds a B. A. in Journalism and English. She looks forward to contributing to the community while enjoying activities such as community theater and traveling.
