City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds

The City of Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds, selected through a national search process. Mascio comes from New Hampshire, where she worked as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the Office of the Child Advocate, emphasizing child welfare. Her experience includes prosecuting serious crimes and developing law enforcement policies. Police Ombuds Bart Logue highlighted her strong legal background and skills that will enhance oversight processes in Spokane. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall noted Mascio's dedication to public service and her potential to strengthen community trust.

The Spokane Police Guild also endorsed her hiring, recognizing the quality of candidates that applied for the position. Mascio expressed excitement about joining the office and relocating to Spokane. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys community theater and spending time with her daughter.
