Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's water system upgrade begins on July 7, costing $3. 25 million and impacting traffic at the Francis Ave. and Assembly St. intersection. The city plans to install a new water transmission main to improve water reliability and accommodate future growth.

Motorists will encounter detours and temporary traffic signals as both northbound and southbound Assembly St. will be closed at various points during the project. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 6 a. m. to 6 p.

m. , with a noise variance allowing construction during these hours. The project will be completed in three phases, with the first phase expected to finish by November 2025. Future phases will also affect nearby streets, including N. Royal Dr.

and W. Lyons Ave. The city urges residents to plan accordingly and support local businesses impacted by the necessary work. Current obstruction information can be found on the city's construction webpage.
