Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane will initiate a significant water system upgrade on July 7, impacting traffic on west Francis Ave. and north Assembly St. The project aims to install a new water transmission main to improve water reliability and support future growth, costing $3. 25 million. Temporary traffic signals will be set up at the intersection of Francis Ave.

and Assembly St. , and both northbound and southbound Assembly St. will be closed in sections. A noise variance permits construction activities from 6 a. m.

to 6 p. m. Monday through Saturday. This first phase will last until November 2025 and will involve closures on several residential streets and intersections. Future phases will include closures on N.

Royal Dr. , W. Lyons Ave. , and W. Woodside Ave.

Motorists should allow extra travel time and utilize detours. Local businesses impacted by the construction are encouraged to receive community support during this necessary project.
